Narasimham is the fourth avatar of Maha Vishnu in Krita Yuga. Mahavishnu came in Narasimha avatar to rescue Prahalada and to eliminate Hiranyakashapu.

After eliminating Hiranyakashapu, and hearing the prayers of Prahalada, Maha Vishnu regained calmness and gave blessing. Maha Vishnu is established in this form at the temple.
